John "Jack" Lawrence Maton, also known as "Sonny" "born in Pana on April 16,1935,the son of John Maton and Grace Rasler Maton, died Arcadia, Florida September 10, 2009
Graduated Pana High School 1953, and from Eastern Illinois Univ., and University of Illinois Springfield with a Masters.Served in the Naval Reserves and the U.S.Air Force in Korea and Okinawa.Worked For NASA at the Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Al., the State of Illinois Springfield, Director of Data Processing at Waubonse Community College in Aurora, Illinois and Steilacoon,Washington and St. Leo College, Florida. Moved from Illinois to Florida in 1987.He authored five books under the name of Sonny Maton while he lived in Florida.. He was married to Julie Hearn in 1963 and had three children, Jay Maton (Clearwater, Florida), Jan Maton Craddock (Newman, Illinois), and Jean Maton (deceased) and they divorced. He married Maria Santillan in 1997 and she survives.Grandchildren are Chelsea Craddock, Darien Craddock of Newman,Illinois and Kelly Maton and C.J. Maton of Clearwater, Florida. He was preceeded in death by his parents and daughter Jean Nicole Maton.
