Virgil Nold, 97 of Oconee, Illinois died Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at 1:10 AM at Prairie Rose Health Care Center, Pana, Illinois. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 24, 2022 at 11:00 AM in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oconee, Illinois with Fr. Rodney A. Schwartz officiating. Visitation will also be Thursday, March 24, 2022 in Oconee Sacred Heart Catholic Church beginning at 10:00 AM until time of service. Burial will be in Oconee Sacred Heart Cemetery. Memorials may be made for Masses for Virgil said at Oconee Sacred Heart Catholic Church or to American Legion Post 317. Virgil Nold was born Saturday, January 17, 1925 in Montrose, Henry County, Missouri the son of Albert A. and Leona M. (maiden name Schmitz) Nold. The family moved to Illinois in Fall, 1926 where Virgil attended school in Oconee and later Pana Township High School. Virgil was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Occupation Duty of Japan following World War II. He was a lifelong farmer in the Oconee area. Memberships included Oconee Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Oconee American Legion Post 317. Virgil Nold is survived by Brother: Harold J. Nold of Oconee; Sister: Jeanette M. Moore of Niantic, Illinois; Nephews: Ronald Bednarko of Athens, Illinois and Robert Moore of Niantic, Illinois; Great-Nieces: Jessica and Anna Bednarko; and many cousins. He is preceded in death his by Parents; a Baby Brother: Gerald who died in July, 1929; Sister and Brother-in-Law: Eilene and Edward Bednarko; Brother-in-Law: George W. Moore; and Nephew: Gerald Bednarko.
